What people with IBD should know

I am often asked, “What would you tell someone recently diagnosed with IBD?” So, this is what I think you should know! Look out for clickable links in this blog, leading to more detailed information! For many, a definitive diagnosis is a massive relief after a long period of being unwell. This does not mean that acceptance is easy, after all, you have just been diagnosed with a chronic disease which has no cure. Do NOT panic, we’ve got this, life is not over! It is worth pointing out that no two IBD patients’ lives are the same. The disease does not always manifest in the same way, and the fact that a treatment works for one person does not mean it will work for another. This makes IBD notoriously difficult to treat. That said, some IBD patients may have one flare, find the right medication straight away and never have another, and that is fantastic! Stoma gallery

Maybe you have an ostomy, and you've sometimes wondered... "Is my stoma normal?" Maybe you're having surgery yourself soon, and you'd like to know what to expect, OR maybe you're just intrigued and looking to learn. Well, whatever the reason, this is the stoma gallery for you!

This gallery aims to show that, just like people, there is no set-in-stone "normal". Ostomies come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes! There are big ones, small ones, round ones, and no real shape at all ones.

I didn't imagine I would receive any of these images and think "Aww, this one's cute", but, I did. Maybe I'm just an odd human...

We have ileostomies and colostomies, ostomies ranging from 4 months old, to 33 years old. We have ostomies with no issues at all, and ostomies that make you want to give it's owner a huge squish.

I chose to share some images that do not all show ostomies in their best light, because that's the reality, and I'm not here to sugarcoat shit. If you do not want to see, please don't start scrolling and then whine about it after...
Any issues have been explained for you, so you don't find yourself guessing and imagining far worse than the reality.

That's it, I'm all out! I hope you've found it interesting, useful, enjoyable (whatever your kink)! I enjoyed putting it together! :)
